Long overdue update and contest!

I've been working my tooshie off the last couple of months working on new products and getting ready for a convention. Starting next week I'll be adding tons of new items to the shop, including jewelry, plushies, and hats. And of course more blog updates.

Now for cool news, the lovely Keri over at BuNnY MoNsTeRz is having a give away! She has up for grabs an adorable zombie bunny plush. Check out this post to see how you can get your hands on this little guy!

Finally, A Decent Update

Been slack on posting, but I've really had nothing to post. Been busy, but not with artwork.

I finally have confirmation that I do, in fact, have my table for AWA. I had a slight scare that I had lost it and was freaking out a bit over it. That said and done, it's time to start work on my inventory! The fun (by fun I mean tearing out my hair) officially begins! More to come and pictures soon!

Sale Announcement!

Starting today, all hats in my BIG SALE section on my Etsy shop are on sale for $5 off. The sale runs through July 4th.

I'm trying to raise the money for my table at Anime Weekend Atlanta as well as push through some stock left over from conventions so I have run for all my new stuff.

Update on my newest plush, I didn't work on him at all. I was off yesterday after working 8 days straight and I decided to have a Pokemon day. I will be working on him today though.

Where to start?

I have nothing to show tonight. Why? Partially it's my new job. More hours = less output at home. This is NOT a bad thing for me, though!

So I'll just mention what I'm working on. This plush idea popped into my head the other day and I'm taking a break working on him to type this blog. It's a serpent-y, dragon-y thing. He'll be finished this weekend. There's also something else I've been sitting on that needs to be finished. If I don't finish it, Jason Ho might start harassing me as much as I harass him.

Lastly, I'll be adding new things to my shop the rest of the weekend and starting Monday I'll be having a big sale. News on that in my next post.

Kickstart!

In an effort to be more professional and keep me working properly, I'm going to update my blog twice a week now. You know, rather than forgetting this thing exists.

Nothing particularly interesting to post on today since I spent most of the night was spent making this thing look pretty. However some opportunities have kinda been coming my way and I'm working on a few "secret" things that I'm not willing/ready to talk about. Updates to come though.

I don't have a life, I have a sewing machine

Seems like if I haven't been chained to my sewing machine, I've been chained to my drawing pads coming up with ideas that will eventually hit the sewing machine. So what's been keeping me so busy?

First up is the Linus Project Blankets. So far I've finished a total of 4, but I have another 19 tops finished. The hardest part about doing these has been trying to come up with ideas for each blanket since I want them to all be unique.

Second is the quilt I'm making for my bed. It's "geek" themed. Basically, that means I'm doing themed blocks from various geeky things I love, such as video games, TMNT, zombies, Ghostbusters, comic books, etc. My plans for one of the borders will be so awesome.

Third is a Star Wars quilted wall hanging. This started out as being a part of my geek quilt but due to trending topics on Twitter presented by @starwars and @bonniegrrl, I've decided to turn it into it's own thing. It's giving me an opportunity to use more artistic techniques that I won't be able to use on my bed quilt due to the uncomfortableness of sleeping on some of the materials.

Last, but not least, I've got a long line of plushies I've been working on (and selling at various shows) that I need to finish up and finally post on my Etsy account. Once I can get some good chunks of the first three things taken care of, the plushies will become more of a priority. I even have plans to do OOAK hand painted plushies for more of an artistic approach to the usual cutesiness I give them.

Back to daily grind!

4 down, 46 to go!

EDIT! Click on each picture to view the whole thing.

I can't tell anyone how much fun this has been. Even though I'm working a full 40 hour week at my regular job, I've still managed to do a ton of work on blankets. I only have 4 completed, but I actually have another 6 started. That's just over a week I've had to work. Can you tell I'm excited I am to be doing this?

Now that that's out of the way, it's time for pictures!

Photobucket
Front is a pink floral print with a turtle made from flannel and minky to it's fun to touch. Back is a cute little turtle print.

Photobucket
Front is lime green with pink polkadots with two strawberries made from cotton and flannel. Back is a plaid strawberry print.

Photobucket
Front is solid turquoise with hot air balloon made from the same material used on the back.

Photobucket
Front is a red star print with a baseball and bat made from cotton. Back is baseball icon print.

The pictures don't show it but the edges of each blanket are secured with a decorative stitch. For instance, I have a stitch on my machine that looks like the baseball stitching so I used that one. It just gives each blanket a little more pop.

More pictures soon!

Linus Project!

So anyone who's cool has heard of Regretsy, the horrible site that pokes fun at hopeful and would-be artisans for their shitty or outright bizarre crafts. Like merkin panties, highly detailed vagina pendants, used-tube-sock-elephant-penis-holder (complete with the item photographed on live human penis), etc.

So out of all this whimsicle fuckery comes charity. A site so many Etsians find offensive uses it's popularity to give back to the community. For every $200 that's raised, Regretsy finds an Etsy seller to make items to be donated for the current charity. Winediva made knitted cancer caps for The Hatbox Foundation (and has now started her own charity to continue this work) and Pomegranite80, a seller featured on Regretsy, was given a donation for her donkey rescue. There's also been work for Toys for Tots and now for Project Linus.

I'm am proud to announce that I have been bestowed the honor of making blankets for Linus Project. I was so determined to get this, I just spent the last week and a half diving into my fabric stash and seeing what I can use. I hadn't even gotten the job, but it didn't matter. So now sitting on my floor is a pile about 4 feet high of fabrics waiting to be washed along for 12 bolts of solids I gotta wash along with it. There will be much quilting/sewing/appliqueing to be done in the coming weeks!

Photos soon!

EDIT! I completely forgot to mention that Tiny Airplanes is graciously donating homemade labels to be attached to my blankets. Nikki is super awesome and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with for the labels.

A note to game designers

STOP PUTTING SLIDER PUZZLES IN YOUR DAMN GAMES!

It wasn't funny when Sam Loyd created them, it's not funny NOW!

That is all.

6 days and counting...

I have actually managed to get most of my preparation completed before the convention! So much so, I've taken to just slacking off even with stuff left to finish. I haven't gotten all I actually wanted to make, but I've gotten my actual goal nearly finished. If that makes sense.

So 6 days to go before the start! And over the weekend I'm planning on uploading a ton of pictures to both my Etsy shop as well as DeviantArt and a few here.

Oh, and I've managed to find and watch all of the Tennant!Doctor Who since I last posted. THIS SHOW IS AWESOME! As soon as I finish Eccleston, I'm torn on who I should watch next. Baker or Davison? It's amazing how difficult a decision that is! lol
